Why My Practice Doesn’t Accept Insurance
When medical practices bill health insurance companies directly, we are required to become a participating provider and sign a contract allowing the insurance company to determine which services it will cover and how much it will reimburse, despite the real needs and cost.
Insurance companies require a mental health diagnoses, and they place restrictions on treatments, dictate treatment options available to patients and frequently deny coverage.
My focus is on assuring patients get the best services to meet their needs. It can be more expensive, but I would not want it any other way, nor would my patients.
Some insurance plans will reimburse some fees under your plan’s out-of-network benefits.

Why do so many therapists not accept insurance?
Our healthcare system is unwell, especially for long-term, high-support practices. Costs rise while the percentage of reasonable fees that insurance payments cover is declining making insurance a care compromising and unsustainable business practice.
